How to Change Narration

(কিভাবে Narration পরিবর্তন করবেন)

Breakdown: Direct to Indirect Speech

When the reporting verb (e.g., “said”) is in the past tense, the Present Continuous Tense of the reported speech changes to the Past Continuous Tense.

Direct Speech

He said, “I am writing a letter.”

Rule 1: Reporting Verb

“said” remains “said”.

Rule 2: Conjunction

Remove “,” and “” and add “that”.

Rule 3: Pronoun Change

“I” changes to “he” (matches subject).

Rule 4: Tense Change

“am writing” becomes “was writing” (Past Continuous).

Indirect Speech

He said that he was writing a letter.
