HAVE BEEN / HAS BEEN + V-ing
Use this for an action that started in the past and is still happening now (or has very recently stopped).
Example: “She has been reading for two hours.”
This means: She started reading two hours ago, and she is still reading right now.
HAD BEEN + V-ing
Use this for a continuous action in the past that was happening before another past action interrupted it.
Example: “She had been reading for two hours when the phone rang.”
This means: The action of reading was happening for two hours, but it stopped when the phone rang.
