How to Use Contrast & Concession Conjunctions
বৈপরীত্য (contrast) বা ছাড় (concession) বোঝাতে ব্যবহৃত বিভিন্ন Conjunction-এর বিস্তারিত নিয়ম ও উদাহরণ নিচে দেওয়া হলো।
1. although / though / even though (যদিও)
দুটি বিপরীত ধারণার মধ্যে সংযোগ স্থাপন করতে ব্যবহৃত হয়, যেখানে দ্বিতীয় ধারণাটি অপ্রত্যাশিত। even though সবচেয়ে জোরালো বৈপরীত্য বোঝায়।
Simple: It was raining. We went for a walk.
Joined: Although it was raining, we went for a walk.
Simple: He is very old. He is very active.
Joined: He is very active, though he is very old.
2. whereas / while (যেখানে)
দুটি বিষয় বা ব্যক্তির মধ্যে সরাসরি তুলনা বা বৈপরীত্য দেখাতে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
Simple: My brother likes football. I prefer cricket.
Joined: My brother likes football, whereas I prefer cricket.
Simple: The first movie was great. The sequel was terrible.
Joined: The first movie was great, while the sequel was terrible.
3. even if (এমনকি যদি)
একটি কাল্পনিক বা সম্ভাব্য শর্তের কথা বলে, যা ঘটলেও মূল বাক্যের ফলাফল পরিবর্তন হবে না।
Simple: You might not apologize. I will not forgive you.
Joined: I will not forgive you even if you apologize.
4. as though / as if (যেন)
কোনো কাল্পনিক বা অবাস্তব পরিস্থিতির সাথে তুলনা করতে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
Simple: He was spending a lot of money. He looked like a rich man.
Joined: He was spending money as though he were a rich man.
