Learning: “W” vs. “V”
These two sounds are often confused. The key is in your lips and teeth!
- /w/ (W sound): Round your lips like you are about to whistle. Your top teeth do not touch your bottom lip. Examples: “wine”, “west”, “wet”.
- /v/ (V sound): Gently bite your bottom lip with your top teeth. Push air through the small gap, creating vibration. Examples: “vine”, “vest”, “vet”.
