He championed the cause of widow remarriage and fought hard for women's education. He wrote many books, including 'Barnaparichay' and 'Sitar Banabas', which modernized the Bengali language. This great soul passed away on 29th July 1891.

This great leader breathed his last on 6th December 1956.
