এই গল্পটি হাজী মুহম্মদ মহসীন নামে এক দয়ালু মানুষের জীবনের দুটি ঘটনা নিয়ে। এক রাতে, মহসীন কিছু বাচ্চার কান্নার শব্দ শুনে একটি কুঁড়েঘরের কাছে যান। ভেতরে তিনি দেখেন, এক মহিলা বাচ্চাদের সান্ত্বনা দিচ্ছেন এবং একটি পাত্রে শুধু জল ফোটাচ্ছেন। মহিলাটি জানান যে তার বাচ্চারা ক্ষুধার্ত, কিন্তু তার কাছে তাদের খাওয়ানোর মতো কিছুই নেই। তিনি আশা করছেন যে তারা খাবারের इंतजार করতে করতে ঘুমিয়ে পড়বে। এই দৃশ্য দেখে মহসীনের চোখে জল চলে আসে এবং তিনি সঙ্গে সঙ্গে বাড়ি ফিরে গিয়ে তাদের জন্য খাবার নিয়ে আসেন।

About Haji Muhammad Mohsin
Haji Muhammad Mohsin (1732 – 1812) was a prominent Bengali philanthropist from Hooghly, Bengal. He came from a wealthy merchant family and inherited a vast fortune. However, he chose to live a simple and pious life.
He is most remembered for his immense charity. He dedicated his entire property for educational and charitable purposes. The Hooghly Mohsin College, one of the oldest colleges in Bengal, was established with his funds. His generosity and kindness made him a legendary figure, and he is still remembered with great reverence as a true saviour of the poor and the needy.
