Lesson 2: Animal Meeting
1. Let’s Read
Once upon a time, some wild animals decided to have a meeting. Animals came from all over the world to attend this meeting. The lion came from Africa, the tiger from India and the polar bear from Siberia. Many other animals came from faraway countries. As the lion is the king of the beasts, he conducted the meeting.
একদা, কিছু বন্য প্রাণী একটি সভা করার সিদ্ধান্ত নিল। এই সভায় যোগ দিতে সারা বিশ্ব থেকে পশুরা এসেছিল। সিংহ আফ্রিকা থেকে, বাঘ ভারত থেকে এবং মেরু ভালুক সাইবেরিয়া থেকে এসেছিল। আরও অনেক প্রাণী দূর-দূরান্তের দেশ থেকে এসেছিল। যেহেতু সিংহ পশুদের রাজা, তাই সে সভা পরিচালনা করেছিল।
Lion (roars)- Welcome, dear friends. We are here to share our problems.
সিংহ (গর্জন করে)- স্বাগতম, প্রিয় বন্ধুরা। আমরা আমাদের সমস্যাগুলো ভাগ করে নিতে এখানে এসেছি।
Tiger (roars)- Hello! I am from India. In our country men are destroying the forests. So we have nowhere to live.
বাঘ (গর্জন করে)- হ্যালো! আমি ভারত থেকে এসেছি। আমাদের দেশে মানুষ জঙ্গল ধ্বংস করছে। তাই আমাদের থাকার কোনো জায়গা নেই।
Lioness (roars)- How terrible!
সিংহী (গর্জন করে)- কী ভয়ানক!
Tigress (roars)- Besides, men are also hunting deer. It is our main food. So it is difficult for us to find food nowadays.
বাঘিনী (গর্জন করে)- এছাড়াও, মানুষ হরিণও শিকার করছে। এটা আমাদের প্রধান খাদ্য। তাই আজকাল আমাদের খাবার খুঁজে পাওয়া কঠিন হয়ে পড়েছে।
Tiger (roars)- Men are also killing us for our beautiful skin, our bones, claws and teeth. There is only a handful of tigers left in our forests.
বাঘ (গর্জন করে)- মানুষ আমাদের সুন্দর চামড়া, আমাদের হাড়, নখ এবং দাঁতের জন্যও আমাদের হত্যা করছে। আমাদের জঙ্গলে এখন মাত্র হাতে গোনা কয়েকটি বাঘ অবশিষ্ট আছে।
Gorilla (gibbers)- I am from the Congo basin. We also have a similar problem. Our rainforests are vanishing fast.
গরিলা (গিব গিব করে)- আমি কঙ্গো অববাহিকা থেকে এসেছি। আমাদেরও একই রকম সমস্যা আছে। আমাদের রেইনফরেস্ট দ্রুত অদৃশ্য হয়ে যাচ্ছে।
Polar Bear (growls)- We have a different problem though. The temperature of the earth is rising gradually. This is called global warming. It is our main problem.
মেরু ভালুক (গোঁ গোঁ করে)- আমাদের সমস্যাটা অবশ্য ভিন্ন। পৃথিবীর তাপমাত্রা ধীরে ধীরে বাড়ছে। একে গ্লোবাল ওয়ার্মিং বা বিশ্ব উষ্ণায়ন বলে। এটাই আমাদের প্রধান সমস্যা।
Zebra (brays) – But how does global warming affect you?
জেব্রা (ডাকে) – কিন্তু বিশ্ব উষ্ণায়ন আপনাকে কীভাবে প্রভাবিত করে?
Polar Bear (growls)- It melts the ice. It makes the climate warmer. We cannot survive in such conditions.
মেরু ভালুক (গোঁ গোঁ করে)- এটা বরফ গলিয়ে দেয়। এটা জলবায়ুকে উষ্ণ করে তোলে। আমরা এমন পরিস্থিতিতে বাঁচতে পারি না।
Vulture (screams)- Who else, but men!
শকুন (চিৎকার করে)- আর কে, মানুষ ছাড়া!
Crocodile – Men also pollute water. Water pollution kills the fishes in the river. So we cannot find enough food.
কুমির – মানুষ জলও দূষিত করে। জল দূষণের কারণে নদীর মাছ মরে যায়। তাই আমরা পর্যাপ্ত খাবার খুঁজে পাই না।
Snake (hisses)- Men kill us out of fear. They think we are harmful.
সাপ (হিস হিস করে)- মানুষ ভয়ে আমাদের মেরে ফেলে। তারা মনে করে আমরা ক্ষতিকারক।
Elephant (trumpets)- So men are responsible for our problems!
হাতি (ডাকে)- তাহলে আমাদের সমস্যার জন্য মানুষই দায়ী!
Lion (roars)- This earth is our home too. They must give us a chance to live in it.
সিংহ (গর্জন করে)- এই পৃথিবী আমাদেরও ঘর। তাদের অবশ্যই আমাদের এখানে বেঁচে থাকার সুযোগ দিতে হবে।
All the animals together – O Lord ! Give men good sense. Make them kind. Teach them to share the earth with us peacefully.
সমস্ত পশুরা একসাথে – হে প্রভু! মানুষকে সুবুদ্ধি দিন। তাদের দয়ালু করুন। তাদের শেখান আমাদের সাথে শান্তিতে এই পৃথিবী ভাগ করে নিতে।

2. What We Learn
Human Responsibility
The story shows that human actions like destroying forests, hunting, and causing pollution and global warming are the main reasons for the animals’ problems. It teaches us that we are responsible for protecting the environment.
গল্পটি দেখায় যে মানুষের কাজ, যেমন জঙ্গল ধ্বংস, শিকার, এবং দূষণ ও বিশ্ব উষ্ণায়ন ঘটানো, পশুদের সমস্যার প্রধান কারণ। এটি আমাদের শেখায় যে পরিবেশ রক্ষা করার দায়িত্ব আমাদের।
The Earth is for Everyone
The lion says, “This earth is our home too.” This is a powerful message. It reminds us that we must share the planet with all living creatures and give them a chance to live peacefully.
সিংহ বলে, “এই পৃথিবী আমাদেরও ঘর।” এটি একটি শক্তিশালী বার্তা। এটি আমাদের মনে করিয়ে দেয় যে আমাদের সমস্ত জীবের সাথে এই গ্রহটি ভাগ করে নিতে হবে এবং তাদের শান্তিতে বেঁচে থাকার সুযোগ দিতে হবে।
Empathy and Understanding
By listening to the animals’ problems, we can understand their suffering. The story encourages us to be kind and have empathy for animals, and to think about how our actions affect them.
পশুদের সমস্যা শুনে আমরা তাদের কষ্ট বুঝতে পারি। গল্পটি আমাদের পশুদের प्रति দয়ালু হতে এবং সহানুভূতিশীল হতে উৎসাহিত করে, এবং আমাদের কাজ তাদের উপর কীভাবে প্রভাব ফেলে তা নিয়ে ভাবতে শেখায়।
